Are you going to participate in Test Day of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Sunday, May 5th?
"No, I won't be able to make it. My program in the coming weeks is full: first I will head to Détroit, then Fort Worth in Texas for the IndyCar Series championship, then to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, followed by Road America on June 26th, again for IndyCar!"
You will return to Le Mans for the 24 Hours (June 18th and 19th). You haven't been back since 2012 and your participation in the Pescarolo Team's Dome S102.5 (with Seiji Ara and Nicolas Minassian, unranked, editor's note). Is this return special in any way?
"I am thrilled to come home. And this return is special, with Ford. I am involved in an official program, with a marque that has a unique history at Le Mans (Ford has four wins at the 24 Hours, the first of which was 50 years ago, editor's note). It is very symbolic and moving for me because an adventure like this doesn't happen everyday in a driver's career!"
You drove the Ford GT at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and at the 12 Hours of Sebring. What do you think about the car?
"It is a really great car to drive. We will see where we are when it comes to Le Mans relative to the Balance of Performance (BOP, editor's note) and to our direct competition. In the Weathertech SportsCar Championship we didn't do too badly, we'll see how it goes in the World Endurance Championship. The main concern is top speed because if we are lacking any, at Le Mans, it will complicate things. I don't know, I hope we'll be a contender. In any case, the entire team is ready."
What are your expectations at the 24 Hours of Le Mans? To finish the race, do your best or win in the LM GTE Pro class?
"The goal is to win. Ford has an official program in which the marque has invested a lot of energy and money. The car is competitive. Now, will be do a flawless race? That's another story (smiles)!"
